Pastor Tyler Gordon - Bio/Testimony

Services

Sunday - 10:30AM Worship Service | Community Groups 5:30PM

I was raised in Rogersville, Alabama. I was brought to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ at the age of 18 through the faithful witness of friends. God opened my heart to see my sinfulness and the sufficiency of Christ to save me from my sins and give me eternal life. I attended the University of North Alabama and received a bachelor’s degree in business administration. A year later in 2008 I sensed that God was calling me to prepare for the work of the ministry. I went to The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY and graduated with a Master of Divinity degree in the spring of 2012. I served as an associate pastor at Second Baptist Church in West Frankfort, IL for eight years prior to being called to serve as the lead pastor at Chelsea Village Baptist Church. Leah-beth and I have been married since 2012 and have two children: Shiloh and Boyce.

I am committed to the authority and sufficiency of God’s Word for all of life and ministry. I believe the most important thing about a local church is that it has a high view of God and is committed to the regular practice of the ordinary means of grace (Word, prayer, corporate worship, etc.) I enjoy reading accounts of God’ work in church history and learning from faithful men of the past.

My favorite authors include are Iain Murray, JC Ryle, Martyn Lloyd-Jones, and Sinclair Ferguson. The one book that I would recommend to others, especially families is Family Worship Bible Guide published by Reformation Heritage Books. It is a rich and edifying source for personal devotions as well as family worship.
